Vacancies

Dear parish resident,

Winscales parish council is made up of 7 Councillors of which we have two in Office.

Unfortunately two Councillors have recently resigned leaving the Parish Council with five vacancies to fill and we are seeking enthusiastic and community minded volunteers who would like to join us. If you are interested in becoming a parish councillor please contact the clerk, Angela Meek on 07741 301 878 or winscalesparishcouncil@gmail.com for some details about what the role entails.

If we cannot recruit enough people to sit on the parish council the only option is Winscales Parish Council is dissolved and that instead the area becomes part of Workington Town Council. If you don’t want to lose the parish council then please consider joining the council or ask friends and family if they are interested.

To be eligible to be a parish councillor you need to meet at least one of the following criteria:

• You are a registered elector in the parish
• You have lived within the parish area – or within 4.8 kilometres of it – for at least the last 12 months
• Your main or only place of work for at least the last 12 months was within the parish area
• You have occupied as owner or tenant any land or premises within the parish area for at least the last 12 months
